Let's us talk about information. At any given moment our minds are thinking about something. Ideas, memories, questions etc. Now lets talk about what exactly leaves your mind and is shared to others. Ask yourself this, is this information going to better your situation or is it detrimental to you. The more people know more about how you think, what you think about the more control you give them over you. Be careful what you tell anybody. That information may lead you to ruin.
There is this scenario whereby a person quit smoking and found a really healthy way to live. this person is proud of his achievement and decides to tell his former smoking buddies about his achievement. He tries to recruit his former smoking buddies into his new found life. Problem is that they are not ready to quit. Now he sounds Judgy and preachy and this great idea that made him happy has changed the way people see him. No one wants to be associated with him anymore. That ladies and gentlemen is why you should think about what you share. This also applies in the scenario of the preachy Jehovah's witness which many of you are familiar with.
Let me bring this to the business side of things. Companies keep many things secret. The simple reason is they want total control over what their competitors and the market know. Phone companies like Apple and Samsung are among some of the most secretive and because of this control of information they record large revenues and profits each and every year.
In some scenarios telling someone something they do not really care about makes you less interesting. To them you are just waffling and simply wasting time.
